India is my country and I am proud to be an Indian. It is the seventh largest country in the world and the second most populous country in the world. It is also known as Bharat, Hindustan and Aryavrata. It is a peninsula surrounded by three oceans such as the Bay of Bengal in the east, the Arabian Sea in the west and the Indian Ocean in the south. The national animal of India is the cheetah, the national bird is the peacock, the national flower is the lotus, and the national fruit is the mango. The Indian flag has three colours, saffron meaning purity (at the top), white meaning peace (in the middle which has Ashoka Chakra) and green meaning fertility (at the bottom). The Ashoka Chakra has 24 spokes in equal parts. The national anthem of India is "Jana Gana Mana", the national anthem "Vande Mataram" and the national sport is hockey.
India is a country where people speak different languages and people of different caste, religion, sect and culture live together. For this reason this common statement of "unity in diversity" is famous in India. It is also called the land of spirituality, philosophy, science and technology. People of different religions like Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Jains and Jews live together here since ancient times. This country is famous for its agriculture and farming, which has been its basis since ancient times. It uses the grains and fruits it produces. It is a famous tourist paradise as it attracts people from all over the world. These monuments, tombs, churches, historical buildings, temples, museums, scenic views, wildlife sanctuaries, architectural sites etc. are the source of its revenue.
This is the place where Taj Mahal, Fatehpur Sikri, Golden Temple, Qutub Minar, Red Fort, Ooty, Nilgiris, Kashmir, Khajuraho, Ajanta and Ellora caves etc. It is a land of great rivers, mountains, valleys, lakes and oceans. Hindi language is mainly spoken in India. It is a country with 29 states and 7 union territories. It is mainly an agricultural country which is famous for the production of crops like sugarcane, cotton, jute, rice, wheat, pulses etc. This is a country where great leaders (Shivaji, Gandhiji, Nehru, Dr. Ambedkar etc.), great scientists (Dr. Jagdish Chandra Bose, Dr. Homi Bhabha, Dr. CV Raman, Dr. Naralikar etc.) and great social reformers (T. N.Session, Padurangashastri Alwale etc.) took birth. This is a country where diversity exists along with peace and unity.
