Mahatma Gandhi
Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was born on 2nd October, 1869 in Gujarat. His father's name was Karamchand Gandhi. He was the Dewan of a state. His mother's name was Putlibai. She was a religious lady. His wife's name was Kasturba Gandhi. Gandhiji studied law in England. He became a barrister. He led the Indian struggle for independence against the Britishers. He went to jail many times. He was a kind-hearted person. He fought for the rights of the poor. He was a man of simple living. He supported the use of Charkha'. He was a strong supporter of non-violence. He never told lies. He was shot dead by Nathuram Godse on 30th January, 1948. He is known as the Father of the Nation.'
