Dr Rajendra Prasad was born on 3rd December, 1884 in Siwan district of Bihar. His father's name was Mahadev Sahai. His mother's name was Kamleshwari Devi. He studied in a school at Chhapra. He did graduation from Presidency College, Calcutta (Kolkata). He worked as a professor of English in a college at Muzaffarpur. He also did doctorate in law. He joined the High Court of Bihar. He was impressed by Mahatma Gandhi. He left his job and joined the freedom struggle. He became the President of Indian National Congress in 1934. He was elected the President of Constituent Assembly in 1946. He was a simple man. He became the first President of independent India. He died on 28th February, 1963 at Sadakat Ashram, Patna.
