The fresh air, which one used to breath six or seven decades ago, is altogether missing today. It is now badly polluted due to various reasons, mostly human-made ones. Air is the first and foremost need for human survival, without which man's existence cannot be deemed possible. The moment an infant comes to this world, it is the air that he breathes first to start his life journey. So, fresh air is essential for the healthy survivalof man. In its absence, slow annihilation of human race is inevitable.
Fumes of automobiles and toxic smoke belching out of the factories are two major causes behind air pollution. It worsens every day with a constant increase in the number of automobiles on the roads and factories in the residential areas. The fumes and smoke emitted keep polluting the atmosphere. Deforestation around urban areas is another serious reason behind the rise in air pollution. It is green vegetation that is necessary for air purification and maintaining the ecological balance. The foul smell emanating from huge piles of rubbish, lying open, also pollute the air which we breath in. The pollutants responsible for air pollution give rise to the 'Greenhouse effect' and also leads to the depletion of the ozone layer in the atmosphere.
It has, hence, become utmost important to check the pollution of air which is worsening with each passing day. People should be made conscious of its dangers. Not one nation alone, but all affected nations should devise effective ways to curb this menace cohesivel, If not paid an Irgent heed, the day is not far off when there will be a question mark on human survival.
